The University of Minnesota-Twin Cities invites applications for the position of Senior Fellow at the Technological Leadership Institute (TLI). The incumbent of this position will also hold the concurrent title of Gemini Chair in Technology Management. This is a non-tenured, annually renewable, academic-administrative appointment that reports to the Director of TLI. To attract experienced, highly qualified faculty, the term of the appointment can range between 50%-100% depending on the successful candidate's preference.

Duties: |
The Senior Fellow/Gemini Chair is primarily responsible for teaching one section each fall and spring semester of a two-credit course in technology leadership development. MOT 4001 ("Leadership, professionalism and business basics for engineers") provides scientists and engineers with a working knowledge of selected aspects of technological leadership/professionalism, business and the environment in which technology and business operate. The team-based course broadens students' leadership abilities and business knowledge by developing students' skills in individual leadership, effective communication, team collaboration, business fundamentals, and professionalism in technology/business environments.
The position will also be responsible for teaching one section of a two-credit graduate level course, MOT 5001 "Leading Innovation Teams in Science & Healthcare," a new elective course to be offered every fall and spring semester at the University of Minnesota. As time permits, the Gemini Chair will participate in TLI's other academic efforts that may include developing and teaching short courses and seminars, teaching other Management of Technology (MOT) graduate courses, engaging in relevant research, participating in consulting efforts on behalf of TLI, assisting in student recruitment and admissions activities, and supporting TLI's mission through professional interaction with the larger technology-intensive community in Minnesota and beyond. |
Qualifications: |
Required: Essential qualifications include at least a bachelor's degree in an engineering, science, business or management discipline and a minimum 20 years of technical, executive, or senior leadership experience in a technology-intensive industry.
Desired: Prior college-level teaching or professional training and development experience in a leadership, technical, or management discipline. Professional, management or executive experience in one or more of the following areas: Innovation, leadership development, sales, marketing, entrepreneurship, new business development, new product development, or strategic management. Master's or Ph.D. degree in an engineering, science, or business discipline.
Successful candidates for this position will be executives with significant technology leadership and industry experience with a demonstrated track record of success as a leader, with effective communication skills, positive business impacts and professionalism at a senior level of management responsibility. Experience in teaching, training and/or developing technical or scientific professionals is highly desirable. |
